Wow, one sub par game and he is done. Yet I can’t think of one team that wouldn’t want him on their team. Kind of nice to see that we can win even when he doesn’t play all that well. Personally, I hated all the hype and at that age, no way some of it did not go to his head. Now maybe he’ll tighten up and realize he has to play hard every down.

Sub-par? He looked like absolute sh*t last night. Any more games like that and the Heisman is over if it isn’t already. The hype and fame have gone to his head and I bet he’s already counting the millions at season’s end. He’s got all the talent and ability in the world but he’s lazy and out of shape, his coaches need to get a handle on that. None of the others on the D-line were sucking wind like he was or taking plays off. I bet he grades out near the bottom of the D-linemen this week.
I don’t know how you can say ESPN had a falling out over him, they showed a highlight of his plays as he went off the field and came back and were virtually orgasmic over him when he was on the field.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

It was the first game of the season…let’s not get crazy here. Gamecocks have rarely looked as good as they did last night in a season opener.
It was the hottest day of the year in Columbia yesterday. Sitting in the stands, I was drenched in sweat, and I’m not one of those guys that sweats easily.
It’s tough to impress everyone, when all of a sudden every single play you’re on is being scrutinized. Yes, I concur he took some plays off.
He will be epic next week between the hedges. Mark it down.
When almost every play is designed around him, it is hard to have a great game. But because they play around him it makes the field smaller for the rest of the defense.
What I did like was that in the 1st we looked good, until they got tired. it will only get better. The entire defense got tired. go back and look, both teams were hurting. the QB cramped up. I was surprised there was not more of that.
Im with 23 on the top 3. #4 im not sure. I think they will plan around him as well.
Was amazed that during the highlight reel they showed him on every single play regardless of whether he got a tackle or not. Must be tough to live up to that.
all I was saying it seems like he did not do much conditioning over the summer. The other DL guys were not as gassed that early.
He knows he is guaranteed $25M and it seemed like he didn’t care much about off-season conditioning…
DF regardless of course I would want him on my team!!!
I think they were all gassed. And once you get tired, it is hard to get un-tired. Look at the difference from the 1st to 2nd quarter.
UNC held the ball for over 6 min from the start of the 2nd. then USC runs 4 plays and scores. USC’s Defense has to go back on the field.
I’m not making excuses, but I understand. 1st game. Hot. Hype. fast offense.
Clowney said he was up all night with a stomach bug. To the point that is pre-game meal was a banana and some grapes. After the game coach Ward said something about his pre-game meal and that he needed to eat something that would help with energy levels.
But again watch some of the plays he did do much. they ran away from him. Yes normally he would have ran after, but just being on the field is a distraction for others
Not buying the stomach bug excuse…look at Spurrier’s reaction to his ****ty play. If he knew(and he would have) he would have defended or not been as harsh.
