Congrats on the double! What is the reasoning behind asking him if he tagged them? Just curious.

Just curious on how effective the tagging system is, that’s all. I like to know who actually tags their turkeys.

What evidence do you see that would make you ask such a stupid question? Good job Bob and don’t let this fool take away from a heck of a morning! I see birds flopping and a pretty strong pic in your yard, neither of which prove anything other than your a straight killer, roll on!
Just curious. We don’t have check stations, just tags. Curious as to how many people actually follow the law. I’ve always figured a lot of folks who hunt close to home just ignore the tag requirement.

HERE YOU GO. SOUNDS LIKE YOU’RE THE KIND THAT WOULD ACTUALLY PAY TO BE A SECURITY GUARD OR ON THE SHERIFFS DEPT. AND BEFORE YOU ASK THEY ARE NOT ALL LEFT FEET.

What an ass!
Good job on the double. Every turkey hunter dreams of being able to do that.

Re: warbler - I wouldn’t have given him the satisfaction.
Some of y’all are awfully sensitive. Good job, Bob.

I don’t think he was trying to be an ass, just asking a curious question.
Those are 2 fine birds right there I’ve tried a few times to get 2 lined up just right, but it’s never happened yet. I switch from shotgun to bow a few years ago, so it probably won’t ever happen to me.

Why even ask that questions?!?!?!? Do you really think, if someone was “ignoring” the law they would come out on a public forum and admit to it?!?!?!?
What a tool!
No bob, that’s not Warbler peeing on your back, it’s raining…honest.

Congrats Bob on both gobblers - very nice! I like that field photo, too!
OK - You guys have covered the whole tag question…but here’s my two cents on the way tagging is done now. Some of you guys may have done this as well…but I’ve made a collection of my “legal kill tags” in a binder (record book) for every bird I killed over the years - back when we had to go the extra step to check the birds in. Part of me wishes they still required it just because I personally liked collecting the kill tags and getting the stats documented. I would hope they (DNR) were using those stats for something and it provided value. Under current law, hunters still tag the birds in the field at the site of the kill prior to transportation, but I always liked going to the feed stores, etc. mid morning/noon and seeing the birds being checked in. It was a good gauge of how everyone was doing and where we were in regards to “peak” season.
If there are any hunters out there “recycling” their tags and extending their season under the new system by not tagging their bird, they’re breaking the law and stealing from all of us and the resource - and in my opinion the current system makes it a little easier for those types to cheat. But, that’s the definition of a cheater anyway…they aren’t going to follow any rules most likely, But, maybe…if they were required to tag in the field then get a legal kill tag before doing anything with the bird, it might reduce the temptation that those types might fall to. I’m sure all of this was debated when they went to the new system though. Maybe the check stations (a lot are mom and pop operations) were not getting business of any sort from the turkey hunters and saw the check in process as more of an aggravation than anything else. Who knows…
Anyway, enough of that. Good luck to you guys out there. Looking forward to seeing some more turkey pics!
