Edding Creek in August

Recently booked a house on Edding Creek for a long weekend at the beginning of August. We will have two 21 Ft. center consoles and have limited experience running St. Helena Sound. I am not looking for specific spots but rather a general overview of what to expect boating and fishing wise. We were hoping to make it to a near shore reef weather permitting. What species of fish would we expect to catch that time of year? Any help is appreciated.

pretty sharky that time of year

Beaufort Boat and Dock Supply is a good source of information. They usually stock the Top Spot N233 fishing map. Lots of good info on that map. The other thing you should do is book a charter early in your trip. Early August is HOT, so be on the water at daybreak. Good luck!

Thanks for the info and I will stop by Boat Dock And Supply. How difficult is it to run out to big water from Morgan Island? Looking at Navionics it looks like St. Helena is pretty shallow up in certain places

No problem going out on either side of Morgan. Easier and straight shot on north side. The main channel is on the Coosaw side and you follow the markers straight out. On the other side go out Morgan and follow markers around Egg Bank over toward Harbor R and the markers bear back to right and go on out.

Be careful, the markers are nice BUT St. Helena Changes all the time and can get shallow on you out of no where. I would suggest taking it slow out one morning or following someone out. If you are taking your family, just go to the sand bar during low tide, and have some cold ones !
