Edisto - 21 through 24 April

Hey Folks!

My bride and I will be at Edisto these dates - trying out the new skiff for the first salt water trip.

Do most fishermen monitor 68?

I will be on - hail me if you are in the area - love to meet some of you folks.

Jim - “Too-Tripper”

16 is a hailing channel, then switch to another for conversation, but a lot of folks use 68. The Coasties say if you have a VHF, you are supposed to monitor channel 16 while underway. Guess that is so they or DNR can contact you to pull over.

Olde Man Charters

10/4 Olde Man, appreciate that.

Be safe out there!

Most radios allow you to monitor/scan multiple channels. I keep mine set to scan 16 and 68, and usually 9 and 13 also when around shipping and other commercial traffic.

Capt. Larry Teuton
Swamp Worshiper

Thanks Larry - will do exactly that.

Appreciate it!

I’ll be on the water nearshore/inshore of the island just give me a call if you need something I’ll be glad to help if possible. Good luck!

Being on the water is a blessing, catching fish is a bonus!

Jim, I’ll be out that way then too. Planning on hitting the nearshore, weather permitting. If not I’ll stay in the creeks. No insult intended, I don’t know if you know the area, but if you don’t I could point you to a few spots to catch dinner.

Buddy and Seasick -

Thanks for the heads up and the replies!

Buddy - good luck if you are chartering and I hope I do not need any help but if I do, I will sure ring out!

Seasick - NO OFFENSE taken and I need all the help I can get. Think we are gonna spend one day fleshing out the new boat for a nautical mpg figure, would like to log 40-60 miles and determine what my range looks like. Will either run to Charleston or perhaps go Beaufort / Port Royal and come back around on the east side (if ocean is calm enough).

Cold beverages on us if we can connect.

We will probably run over to Gay Fish Co from Edisto also so we should have some cold peel-n-eats with us.

Love new friends, will try to hail you.

We are Too-Tripper.

Many thanks !

Jim, which channel are you going to being monitoring? Still planning to be out there but if plans/weather change last minute I can text you some good spots to fish. PM me your number if you want.

Seasick

We are here! The wind was wicked yesterday and we could not find any bait.

We are on 16/68 and will listen for you today.

My cell is 803 479 8975.

Would love to meet you.

Should be at Pressley’s tonight - drinks on us!

Thanks!!!

Hey guys, down with the family this weekend too. Made the trip around the entire island yesterday in that wind and wow… Will be putting in at the marina today and taking them to see Monkey Island. We may try to find bait as well. Anyways, will be monitoring 16/68 and will be out there if anyone needs anything. I haven’t before but always thought it would be nice to meet some of the good ones from on the board. Be safe and tight lines fellas.

Bobby-

Hey Folks!

Jo and I met up with Seasick11 (Matt). Excellent guy and he treated us like family (heck, better than family).

Thompson321 (Bobby) - man, I am sorry I did not see this earlier, would have looked you up.

Yes, the wind was brutal on Friday - we went over to Dataw and then to the north end of St. Helena to look at the dock of a house we are gonna rent for a week on August. We were in a little boat and got pounded pretty good.

Saturday was much better - we went up to Toogodoo creek to meet Matt and his father in law - again, they were great folks!

Thanks all…

PS - we ran just over 50 nautical miles on Friday and burned 12.3 gallons of fuel - so we were just a shade better than 4.0 N-MPG.

Not bad with a 115 4T and terrible winds… I am happy with that.

Boat is supposed to have a 42 gallon cell - so at 4 N-MPG at a 75% safety factor - we can probably run about 125 miles. I need further testing but that is what it shapes up to right now…
