Edisto 40 Question

Answered.

Personally, until you’ve gotten a little off the beach time under your belt I would not go it alone, get you a buddy boat trip lined up with some one that’s been there done it before also don’t venture out without all safety equipment ,ie; flares, radio ect, ect…

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

you could go on a really flat day, preferably with a buddy boat. Check Reefcast for a 3 day window of 2 ft 10 sec and plan your trip in the middle of it. OR, a better suggestion, hit the Edisto Nearshore which is a great reef and much closer.

The red route and blue route indicate the two ways I can get to the nearshore reef.

The black route indicates how I can get to Edisto 40.

Be careful if you take the blue route. Really sketchy water between Botany and Devaux Bank.

Just take the black route and head up to the nearshore if you decide to try it. I fish there a good bit and do pretty well for such a short ride out.

Or, put the skiff on the trailer and pull it over to steamboat, would be a lot quicker.

Ya sorry I was assuming you could trailer your skiff to steamboat. Thats what I do.

@Optiker where at? Chances are I’ve seen you. I’m by the bend. If you know where the huge “island” sandbar is, I’m right there before it. Can’t miss the boat.

And I would trailer the boat, but my trailer tires need replacing which means custom ordering more tires. Then about a 3 week waiting game

Been to the 40 many times in my j16 with a 25 merc out of both Store creek and Westbank off the north Edisto! Always been have been on good weather and with a buddy boat. I have 50 plus years of experence and don’t think I’d go now!
