Saturday afternoon we went out to the Edisto 40 late in the day. Catching nothing but baby black sea bass until my buddy rod got bent over. The fish came up to the surface and he fought him for a little while. Not having a net or a gaff I made a mistake in grabbing the mono line. Fish shook his head and broke the line. I believe it was from the 10 granny knots he tied in the line I got a decent look at the fish but I am not as experience.
I think the fish was an Amber Jack but not sure.
Are amber jacks that far in this time of year or could it have been a Jack Cravelle.
The fish had a head jack a AJ. I am looking at a Saltwater Poster and swear it is one of those.
The fish hit a basic bottom rig with small chunks of squid on it.
Wait a minute now guys…an AJ and a Brownie are two totally different fish…get the stories straight.
Who was doing the ID on this break away?
Do I have to be there every weekend to keep yall boys straight?
Ty WEBB, howd that new boat run for you? Hate I missed the virgin run offshore for the first time.
I tried to warn the island yall boys would be there:smiley:
I had my beer goggles on.The boat did great, finally got the electronics in at the dock, didn’t like using the marina because of the parking on that one way street.
I think scrimpin cut my line. But at least i know he won’t catch any fish when he goes to Edisto this weekend. And yes it was a cobia.Tmj just make a weekend and we’ll go how about Belkie Bear or the Edisto Offshore ?
TY WEBB, We can do the offshore or I got some new #s north a few miles that look real good for bottom dwellers bout where we were last time but closer to Edisto area. I am ready next weekend if you are…little bro also should be in. I will make a call today to get us a place to stay close to Whaleys:smiley: Want to break that new boat of yours in or take both and bloody um up together?
