Rolled out early for the first trip of the year on a .07 x 8 day with 2 mph winds. Not a soul on the water from Big Bay Creek through the breakers, and past the 40 to the 60 Reef.
Bounced around a few spots for about 3 hours taking an inventory. BSBs were there in number and were hungry; we caught one on just about every cast. Plenty of legal size to take home for dinner. The only other species representing were a few Ringtails, one of which I baited up and sent to the bottom. Nothing took an interest, so I unhooked him and gave him the rest of the day off.
Hit the 40 on the way back. Surface water was 52 degrees, same as the 60; BSBs were also schooled up, though not as large. We easily boated a hundred, earning me my 100/100 BSB badge (which is good for a free fiddler crab at Haddrells).
Overall, a very nice overcast day. Water was glass. And we got to take a few legal BSBs home for dinner.
