Took advantage of near perfect conditions to run out to the Edisto 60 to look for Spadefish. They have arrived.
We camped at my usual spot, and before long they came by to check us out.
As I remember from years past, when they first arrive, they are extremely cautious, and it takes a few weeks for them to get aggressive hitting bait.
We didn’t have jelly balls, so we pitched squid heads. They were interested enough to circle the bait, but mostly the swam off.
We did manage a couple, including a nice 24 incher that dragged me around the boat on my light tackle rod.
We also floated live (and cut) Porgies for Cobia, but all that did was get us broken off by large Sharks that were on patrol.
Water at the Reef was 76 degrees.
Back at it ASAP
Tally for the day:
2 Spadefish
12 Ringtails
1 Remora
1 Wrasse
2 Gloria Cubana Cigars
4 Coors Banquet
