What’s the fishing like on the edisto 60 and edisto offshore reef? Want to get into a more variety this May when I’m down there long enough to get out there. What you guys think about it?
If you don’t mind, let me point you in a direction that might help. Go to the SCDNR site and get to the artificial reef map with locations of the reefs closest to Edisto. Your 22’ should be able to reach the following with no problem BUT BE SURE YOU CHECK THE SEAS AND CONDITIONS AND ARE UP TO THE TRIP TO DO IT SAFELY! Check out PA-31 Edisto 40/Nearshore, PA-30 Edisto 60, PA-38 Fripp Island Reef, PA-40 Hunting Island Reef (6HI), PA-32 N.Edisto Nearshore, and PA-29 Kiawah Reef (4KI). Once you look at the map you will see that you can “pair them up” and hit a couple of reef areas in a single day of fishing. Additionally, on the individual location detail, you will also have coordinates for what make up the reef areas. I suggest you plug some of the higher profile objects in to your GPS and once you get to the individual location you can circle or figure 8 around using your bottom machine to decide where to drop. If you’re good with computer stuff (or have a 12 year old), you can download the complete file to your GPS. You can “bottom bounce” these areas all day with cut bait and squid and not break the bank. If one spot is trash fish or loaded with sharks, just move over to the next object in the reef area until you find what you’re looking for. You can do a little of this research in your den while watching the fishing channel. Hope this helped
