We will be in Edisto for a week starting on 5/13… i live about 4 hours away. was just wondering if the beach has changed much after the hurricane this past fall? I normally fish close to Edisto realty or over by the sound… any info would be helpfull… just trying to prepare as best i can before we get there thanks
All of the beach is open. Wide beach. New sand down to access 31. Whiting and bonnet head sharks fishing the surf right now. I have boats but don’t like to go out alone, let me know if you want to go when you are here. Inshore and off shore.

Will do… I usually yak some baits out for shark… Sometimes I get lucky and get some Mahi carcasses down at the marina… Is there any other place you know of to score some shark bait?
I keep whitting in the freezer, cast net for mullet.
Ryan, the beach renourishment added about 100’ of beach to what was there after the storm. Usually, that’s really bad for fishing, but in our case, ain’t bad for sharking. See my post “opinions for 4/29” … Good stuff man. Got skunked today, but yesterday was awesome. Btw, only caught one whiting and one frying pan sized stingray over the last two days…

Oh, and where are you coming from, and where are you staying when you’re down there? That may help with your bait question.

quote:we are coming from Due West SC...we go through columbia enroute. we have a house on the beach about as far as you can go towards Edisto Marina.... called "dolphin watch" we had descent luck there in the past.... you dont have to yak out far to be in 30' of water and its fairly calm... the downside of that area is the current can rip and there are alot of boats. one time i had one go between me and my 9/0 i tried to drop it but it didnt sink fast enough anyway so thats always exciting..

any info on finding bait would be great… i usually just end up using anything i catch whiting or ray…
Alright cool. I was out front of the state park, no trouble with boats or current there, just tourists, but they were alright. Well, its a little out of your way, but… Haddrells Point in west Ashley keeps bonito on hand, which is what worked for me this past weekend. If you feel like taking the detour.
