Hello all - Just found this forum and really enjoy everyone’s input and enthusiasm. I am planning a 4 day trip to Edisto over Thanksgiving weekend and am looking to do some shore fishing with my 3 yr old daughter, wondering what anyone would recommend. Im open to surf /lagoon / whatever, only requirement is that it is accessible without a boat. I know it is a long way off but I can start getting excited now right? Thanks for any and all replies. We will be staying in Edisto near the state park (i think).
If you have a cart or wagon, you can easily load it up with a cooler and tackle and walk north on the beach at low tide and fish jeremy inlet for spottail, whiting, flounder, and maybe some trout. You can fish the surf or walk up the creek a little to where it drops off. It is about a mile up the beach from the state park.
You can also go all the way to the other end of the beach (south) to the point and wade out into the water to cast big chunks of bait into Big Bay creek to catch shark.
And there is also a fishing pier right there where the rd first gets to the beach past the state park beach gate.

Thanks Phin, great advice. Ill post if we catch anything!

A fishing pier? Are you talking about the remains of the old pier at that restaurant on the beach?
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
Half dozen Croaker in the surf from the beach near the mouth of the river on Thursday, only a Ray near Jeremy’s inlet on Friday also from the beach. One croaker on the outgoing tide on Saturday back at the river mouth.
All caught with frozen Piggly Wiggly shrimp and #2 hooks with a two drop surf leader and 4 oz. weight. Had fun, first surf fishing attempt in Edisto.
