Just getting started on this forum and am heading to edisto next week or so and wondering how is the fishing right now and mabye some areas to target not specfic areas but general. I will be bringing a boat.

Yesterday on my first day of inshore all I saw were some gar and stingrays. I’m sure if I lived here I could figure it out. The whole place looks fishy, and it’s a huge place to explore. We put in at Steamboat, and it was worth it just to get out there and see what it looks like. I hope you have a GPS, and I mean a GPS with a chart, not a smartphone. The flats go from water to mud pretty quickly, so check it out at low tide first if you have time.
As for surf fishing, all I have caught are baby sharks. Another visitor I met caught a couple small whiting and a 2’ sharpnose, but it’s been primarily baby sharks this week.

Big Ugly Homemade Blue Push Pole
We caught a good number of, nice flounder, spottails, some trout and a 22" trout along with sharks and rays and gars this weekend off the south Edisto all on 1 1/2" mud minnows. Have never caught as many minnows as we caught sat. must have had a 1,000 in 4 traps using menhaden for bait, tried live menhaden but no bites, 4-5" probely to big?
