Are they still using the fuel dock for “rental space”. Coming down late this week and need to find a place to launch. Last time down it was a nightmare with huge boats tied up for days at the fuel dock, completely blocking it. Looks pretty bleak now that Live Oak is shut down.
Thanks, yeah, we are just doing the 1 or 2 night “rough it” thing like we do several times a year. Unfortunately this was the only weekend I could swing for a while. Have not fished out of steamboat before. How far to the inlet and are there some good deep areas along the way? Just wish somebody would build another ramp in the area… it would be worth paying the cash to launch without the hassle.
Steamboat landing. I about 9.5 Miles from the Ocean.

Steamboat is great, but it puts you into the North Edisto. If you are looking to be on the south side of the island, you have to ride all the way around. With that said, I’ve used Steamboat a bunch, and it’s great access to the North Edisto and the ICW.
If you want to get over to Big Bay Creek, and don’t mind riding, you could put in at the landing by the bridge over the ICW.
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
