All,
I am going down near where Penny creek dumps into the Edisto River around the middle of March. Can anyone please let me know if catfish are in this area? Also, do you guys get a shad run in these rivers?
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if this area is salt or fresh water? Thanks again for you help. I am from NC so I don’t know much about this water but there sure are a lot of turkeys
Caught two nice catfish in that area a week ago.
It is considered fresh as it is above the dividing line, but the tide does control it. I haven’t fished for cats there this year but have caught them there in the past. Not saying for sure but used to be kinda a bad place for break-ins if you put in at Penny creek landing. If you go,try the left hand bank coming out the creek when it meets the Edisto,if you have a dept finder you’ll see the deep hole. Shad do run here that time of year but hard to catch on a line in the last 20 yrs.
You can’t catch fish on a dry line
Definitely fresh water. Years ago there were lots of shad in the area - netters have just about wiped them out!

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.
