Will be down in a couple of weeks, actually renting a house on Frampton Inlet. We have stayed there many times and take our kayaks and just launch from our dock, but this time I will also have my boat, Key West 176 CC with me so I think I will put in at Dawhoo or Steamboat and try coming in from the outside. I have seen Ron come in and out of the inlet many times so I think once you find the channel its doable. Have seen Ron not only give folks a hard time about fishing but about picking up shells off beach and bringing them back. If I remember correctly he had a sign at ramp telling how many and what kind of shells you could bring back. Anyway, as always looking forward to Edislow no matter what.
one morning ron took a group of people out there for a 3 hour beach trip. he dropped the people off then forgot about them and went to play golf (knowing him probably got stoned out of his gord). About dark he realized he had forgot the people. Any time he is an A** just ask him about dropping his charter off and forgeting about them.
Was at Edisto the week of 7/4. Rode a lot, fished a little. Tried to anchor just off Frampton Inlet (21’ BW), but anchor wouldn’t hold. Got to cast live shrimp against sand bar at mouth of inlet, and caught (6) pretty trout as quick as I could replace bait, released all, then had to move due to anchor slipping. I did have my cousin take his skiff across the mouth of the inlet, and there is a hole there that reads in excess of 60’ depth. His skiff was caught in a whirlpool and made 5-6 revolutions before he left. That is one dangerous place for anyone dumb enough to try to swim around the mouth of the creek - and I saw some people almost in that exact area swimming back to their anchored CC that weekend.
60’ hole? Really??? That is a tiny inlet that I have been fishing my whole life and i’ve never found that hole. Where is it? Sounds like maybe a depth finder malfunction
Sportin, I did not record the depth - my cousin did. He is, however, the closest thing to Professor Knowzit that you will find. We both grew up summers at Edisto, kicked around on the beach after Hurricane Hazel, and are both familiar with the area. My cuz tells me the hole runs almost parallel to the current beach, right at the end of the new sandbar in front of the washout. I was surf fishing there about 15 years ago, looked down after I noticed a glimmer in the water, and picked up a gold button with “LF” engraved on top. Took it to USC, and they dated it mid-18th century. Off-topic? Yep, but strange things go on at Frampton Inlet.
Strange things…like Capt Ron.

Thats crazy. I’ll try to find it next time I’m down there and report back to you. Seems like that would be a good spot to fish.
question: when ya’ll use live shrimp in the surf, what kind of setup are you using? carolina rig with a light hook? i’ve got a bunch of live shrimp and want to give it a shot. thanks.
If you consider Capt. Ron a dirtbag on Edisto, when all he does is cut your lines, tell you to get out of “his” creek, and bans you from the ramp HE PAYS FOR—you’ve got it coming to you! Just wait until you have to deal with $hitheads like Unger, Lachicotte, etc. on this island. In them you’ll find folks that honestly believe they “own” the whole island.
thank you sir

Clearly he was addressing Team Pig, as he C&Ped his post. What are you, a clempsonfan or something?
Ron Elliot has no right to run people out of framtons inlet or tell them what they can and cant do there. Yes he can tell people what to do regarding the ramp but thats it. He really doesnt have any room to advise people on what to do on the water. A few years back he had group of tourists that he took to the beach at framptons for a couple of hours. After he dropped them off he forgot about them around dark he finally remembered about his charter and went to pick them up (I actually think he went and played golf when he forgot about them). Also Mr. Unger and both Cecil and George have always been nice to me.
Capt Ron was a golfer at USC from what I remember. I think he may have smoked a few doobies in his youth as well, which means “there’s no hope in dope” kids.
