Edisto Shrimping

Put this topic in the shrimping section but figured it wouldn’t hurt to be seen here either. I usually go to bulls bay but will be in Edisto during the 1st week of the season. Any particular area that is better than others? Day or night better? Any help would be appreciated

you probably should go over to St. Helena sound, up the river, left in ■■■■■■■ cut and left again in the ashepoo, follow the ashepoo out to the sound and shrimp the sand bars. daytime is OK if the water is muddy, night time is better, there will be plenty of shrimpers out there, good luck.

Combahee banks is what I’m most familiar with too. Been looking/listening for other places around edisto. I’ve had mixed results at the banks, fill the cooler in 5 passes one day, go back the next and really struggle to get a 1/4. I think Knothead is right though, muddy water might be the key during the day. Love the place too, but its quite a ride in my boat. Shrimped N edisto near mouth of steamboat creek but again, mixed results and thats been years ago. One day I’m going to find the ultimate place at Edisto. Until then, I’m all ears too.

There ain’t no shrimp at Edisto!!!:imp:

Well It might be but if I told you where they were I’d have to kill 'ya.
Hint: They are in muddy water and are better at night.

I find it that the shrimp around Edisto tend to have red walking legs. In other words, they move around alot. If you go to St. Helena Sound and see lots of boats not moving or shrimping then go somewhere else. If the boats are tossing nets and moving, then the shrimp are in the area. Good luck, I will be trying the sound opening weekend.

Thanks guys. I guess we’ll never know for sure unless we get out there and wet the net. Hopefully we’ll load em up but if not, then it could be worse. Good luck to all of you as well.
