Gentlemen I know it’s a little early yet but was looking for a little info on the bait shrimping in Edisto. I normally shrimp up at bulls bay, I am a daylight shrimper only when I figured out that it is just as good or better in daylight. 2 years ago we put 400 pds headed in the freezer and was about out by the time the season rolled around again, so I have to plan ahead lol to keep the wife happy. How is the general season up at Edisto can it be as productive?

No where is as good as bulls bay. Last year the shrimping was terrible from Charleston to HHI.

Last year it was pretty bad. We did get 2 full coolers opening weekend in the daytime. It can be every bit as good as bulls bay. Just don’t tell anybody.

Stick with BB! Use to only shrimp in the SH sound but went to BB with some friends years ago, and never looked back!
Your right Bulls Bay is hard to beat ! I know it like the back of my hand, my father in Law is care taker of about 40 acres right next to buck hall so we usually stay up there during the season. I hope to be living on Edisto in about a year so was hoping to learn some areas there.

Shrimping was the worst in 10 years last year at Edisto and even worse in Beaufort. Not sure what happened. Commercial guys killed it until late July and then nothing…hmmmmmmm. One very odd trend I noticed since moving to Bluffton was that south of the St Helena sound, everyone deep hole shrimps. No baiters. Crazy.

Baitball our right I remember a few short years ago no one deep holed now everybody is an expert. There is one particular hole they line up to get to at BB and you can hardly make it past them getting into the bay. Id rather go spend three hours in the bay with the wife and kid getting a limit than fight that mess.

Shrimping is hard work anywhere but deepholling will kill ya!
I been shrimping in wadmalaw sound since before baiting was legal with meal instead of laying pellets and we never caught 400 pds and they are always small and mixed up at best. If you want them big ones I would stay in Bulls Bay.
You can’t catch fish on a dry line
400 pds is a lot your right If I remember correctly a 48 quart cooler is about 70 75 pds with a limit and ice and about 40 - 42 pds de-headed, I still shrimp quite a bit but as far as eating them I can take it or leave it but would never tell the wife and kids that.

I’ll take a day shrimping (good or bad) over pretty much anything else. There is nothing like a net full of shrimp!
