Anyone catching anything at edisto surf fishing? I am heading down next weekend. Any info would be great.
Was down last week. Weather flip-flopped and low pres came in with the rain. Had bad SE to NE winds or dead calm. Caught some whiting and butt load of small sharks. Saw about the same with others. Folks there I talked to said they had been catching some blues and a pompino now and then too. You know the “should have been here yesterday” report. Wish you luck and better weather.
Did get some nice crabs in the pots and on hand lines. Cooked them up twice!
Use fish for bait.

jford, im wanting to try my luck at a crab pot at edisto this year. is there anything i need to know as far as the regulations on them. what i have read in the dnr book is as long as you have a yellow bouy with your name on it and fish less than two pots you dont have to have anything special.

Salty, you’ve pretty much got it. I have a crab pot at my house down there, and we put it out whenever we are down. Bought it at the Pig. Yellow bouy, name tag on the pot. No license needed if no more than 2 pots.
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
Just fish works better for bait and the 5" pt to pt size limit.

Caught redfish in the surf just north of Edisto Beach State Park the other day. Cut Mullet or menhaden is a must. Incoming tide.
I set 2 pots last year and both were stolen. Go figure.
