Edisto Surf

Planning on taking the lady out Saturday to the surf to try and get her on a bull red. Never fished the area but Jeremy inlet looks promising on Google Earth. My question is how would the parking situation work to get there? I know you can park at Edisto beach state park but wondering how long of a trek that is or if there is somewhere closer. If anyone has any location recommendations/tips please feel free. Also where can I grab fresh shrimp? Thanks guys.

It is not a bad walk down to Jeremy from the state park and that is a good spot for surf fishing. Maybe 15 minutes or so. There are lots of shrimp in the creeks at eh moment but pretty small. Cut mullet is my favorite for the redfish and it is available at the bait shops on the island. Good luck.

Bull reds are in the surf at Edisto. We are there six months out of the year. Have friends down for 10 days. Three bulls caught today on finger mullet, 47”,40.5” and40”. The mullet bait is in the surf, you can catch them with cast net. Blue fish 10 to 16” are there also. There are a few trout also. Don’t waste your time with frozen bait. Stop at Flowers seafood on your way in if you want fresh shrimp. You can park at the 23 beach access for free and walk less than 1000 feet to the water, no charge for parking. Fish 100 feet of the rocks, good trough there. FYA: From the parking area at the state park it’s a 1.25 mile walk to Jeremy. Two things NOT to do on Edisto, don’t drink the tap water and DON’T speed.

Thanks. Glad to hear there are some reds running the surf. I’ll drop a report Sunday on how we did

A little late on the report. Fished outgoing until halfway on the incoming. Beach action was a bit flat so it was a challenge to find troughs and cuts but after moving around we found a little spot and started hitting the whiting pretty hard. Ended with about 25 or so large whiting which was a blast for her. Had the big rods out with chunks of whiting but no runs on them the whole day other than small blues picking at them. Saw one guy pull in a 28inch red while walking the beach. Really liked the area and plan on coming out again soon.
