Okay, a question for you locals… Anyone know the distance by boat for an ocean trip from Edisto to the north tip of Hilton Head? Looking to try it sometime while down there. Also, how’s the water depth heading south once outside the “A” can at Edisto… do we need to go to the next can before heading south? We usually take the cut out north when exiting the inlet, so not really familiar with the southerly route. Thanks
The “A” can is no longer there, (first can coming IN, not out). The depth heading South at the B can is sketchy as you will run into the bluefish bar, egg bank, and pelican bank. You need to be several miles offshore in order to navigate safely and get around Hunting Island and Fripp. The trip through the intracoastal is not bad at all. It’s about 50 miles through the waterway.

Thanks. I’ve made the trip to Beaufort before thru the intercoastal, but was just thinking that somewhat hugging the coast would make a shorter trip, provided the seas are pretty flat. What do you think the mileage is if we took the ocean route/
More than that b/c you need to go out further.
thanks Daniel.
