We are coming to Edisto for our summer vacation starting next Saturday. Would appreciate any general fishing advise that anyone is willing to give. We have a boat but can not go off shore due to a chronic sea sick problem. Have not seen a lot of recent reports from Edisto but hope there are still a few fish being caught in spite of the heat. Interested in all types of inshore fish. Grand kids love to catch sharks and whiting. Older folks more interested in reds, trout and flounder. We fish 100% “catch and release”. Not looking for anyone’s “honey hole”, just general guidance for fishing this time of the year at Edisto.
Cast right behind where the waves break for whiting. Use shrimp for those. Sharks and stingrays will hit that also so watch your poles and make sure there in the rod holder reeal good. We went out and caught some whiting, pompano, sharks, stingrays, croaker, and spots. Edisto street access point is where we went and fished near the totem someone made. It is away from the swimmers which is perfect.
This time of year, pretty much any creek bend or hole will hold big bonnetheads. Quartered crab. Put out on carolina rig. Wait 15 min. Lots of fun!
Last August my son and I fished cut mullet on the edge of the Pine island sandbar where it drops off to the inlet and caught some GROWN sharks.
Most of all, enjoy!
