Saltwater Surf / Pier Fishing

Finally got a break from work so hit the surf. Gotta friend with a place at Kiawah, he said use it, so it was on. Got out there around 2pm Saturday for the falling tide. First fish was a 20" trout. Then an 18" whiting, followed by two more whiting. Then the crimp on the end of my steel leader came loose and something big got away, think it must have been a shark, it was pulling line fast. Then I caught a 3ft shark. After that I caught another 16.5" trout. Glad to see this, the past two years out there have stunk as there was no structure to the beach, this has since changed. It was a great day, the wife helped me handle the rods when the big fish hit, and we got to have fun on the beach together. Can’t wait to hit the surf again soon, good luck to y’all as well. pics to follow

Falling tide, fish finder with fresh shrimp and a two drop with fresh shrimp both in the suds. fished steel leader with cut mullet past the breakers for the sharks. Wish I could say it was technique, but I’d rather be lucky.

an 18" whiting is a horse!

i caught over 50 this weekend in charleston and the biggest was about a foot… i wanna head down to botany for some better surf action now!
