Having your tallywaker cut off because you want to be a woman isn’t courageous, its selfish. It’s like a guy who runs out of a burning building to save himself. That’s fear and self preservation, not necessarily courage. The guy who runs into the burning building to help others is courageous. He didn’t have to do it, but did it to help others who can’t help themselves.
ESPN just lost all respect from me, not that I really had any for them to begin with.

And what if him coming out is helping others, then would you call it courageous?
I bet him coming out in the public eye has helped a tremendous amount of confused teenagers and adults with gender issues.
Unless you’re a hermaphrodite with both set of giblets, there is no confusion, you’re either male (pecker) or female (cootchie). Pisses me off when people make acceptance and excuses for these nutjobs.
Aaah yes. All of those people are just lying right?

The problem is that you are only examining the one word, courageous. I’m not saying he’s not advancing the gay\transgender\whatever agenda. He certainly is, but that’s not what ESPN should be promoting. At least I won’t support ESPN in their movement. This award has come to mean so much more over the years to many and I believe that’s what people are upset over. Along with this award comes an unspoken but very much implied long list of characteristics that most of the other recipients portray in their daily walks as well.

I quit watching ESPN, NASCAR, PGA and listening to 107.5 the game. (Yes I am a Game Cock fan). I watch the news to find out about politics. I’ll be (**() if I am going to watch or listen to a bunch of sports reporters talk about politics, and that is the reason why ESPN gave the weirdo the award.

Isn’t this a little different than being gay. I’m pretty sure gay people have been around since the beginning of time. …not so sure about transsexual surgery though. Doesn’t bother me one bit that it exists but it sure doesn’t need to be glorified.
That’s fair Harry and a good point. I want a just lumping them together.

That’s fair and I complete respect your beliefs there. I actually wish I had as much faith in God as many in this board do, and you, do. But that’s a whole another conversation.
