Fairly slow weekend

I got out with Grace and hit the surf this weekend. Big tides and dirty water kept fishing slow for us but we enjoyed the beach and made the best of it. We ended up with a few whiting one lunker being 12 and a half inches, couple of small black drum, 1 small red and the biggest bonnet head shark I have caught. Check out the whitings head next to the scissors it was a good one. A shark hit the whiting while I was reeling it in and it started to run off with my fish, but I got back:smiley: You can see a big gash in the whiting picture. I did loose a large red right up front after fighting it for 5 minutes. No frayed line or tackle failure he just started going nuts when his belly hit the sand and he managed to give me the slip… He was landed real close to shore and was still too strong. I will get him next time. Take care folks and God Bless.

Gorgeous day. That’s a big bonnet head. They put up a great fight.

Not a bad day Pete. I fished the north end of the IOP early Saturday morning for about 5 hours and only caught 3 whiting. Maybe the next trip will be better.

Glad you finally got back out Pete and got some bites.

Jack, Was that you I saw just north of me on Sat.? Mr. Webster came down and fished, caught a nice mess of 3-5lb Black Drum.

David I was around 42nd Street IOP from about 6:30-11am Saturday. I didn’t see anyone within my eyesight
Sorry I missed you but glad you had a good trip
