Between the replies on here and talking to a few friends that don’t get on this site, it looks like there is plenty of interest and we should have a good turnout.
The date will be Saturday, Nov 3.
Take off from anywhere on the lake and lines in the water at 7:45 AM.
Weigh in will be at the SCE&G boat ramp at Hilton at 12:30 PM.
Everyone can weigh in one fish. Biggest fish pays 70%. Second pays 30%.
Leave your bait tanks at home. Artificials only!
Send me a PM for the address to send the $5/person entry fee . There is no entry fee for kids under 16, but let me know if you have any kids fishing. If we are going to have some kids fishing I’ll make sure we have some prizes for a kids division.
I think that covers it, but let me know if I forgot anything.
I have a boat, but if anyone has room for me, I’d love to go with someone who can teach me something. Stuff like how to read my sonar better and what to look for. Any help would be appreciated. I can barely catch a fish with live bait, much less with artificials. I’ll be more than happy to share gas/expenses. Heck, I’ll even pay your entry fee.
Let me know where, and wife weather permitting, I’ll be there.
Thanks, Bob

So first I see you placed 2nd and got big fish yesterday and today you are asking if trolling umbrella rigs will be permitted…interesting. LOL
Yea, trolling is OK with artificials.
Congratz on a good finish…looks like it was a pretty tough day fishing for a lot of people. I’m going to give it a try this afternoon for a while. That wind seems to have calmed down quite a bit.
Thanks Tim!.. I gotta let y’all off the hook. All fish were caught yesterday on live bait, pulling boards and corks early and fishing down rods later in the day. With the wind and having to watch rods so intently, we didn’t do much jigging at all. My back is stiff today from the pounding we took, but it was nice to get a check:sunglasses:
Looking at the charts on last years turnover, the charts now, and next weeks forecast. I am predicting the lake will turn over next Thursday or Friday. Could make for a tough tournament.
Isn’t a turnover when the thermocline is gone? If so ithink it will take until after the tourney or right about the same time for the temp to drop that much.
I thought it usually turns over after the first week of Nov.?

Hey Mister Buzzkill, I have done my own very intricate calculations and according to my data the lake will not turn over until 1:00 PM on the 3rd…we’re good.
Turnover happens when the surface water becomes heavier than the water on the bottom. The surface water pushes down and the bottom water gets displaced to the surface. Last year The surface temp on the charts was 71* on October 18th. A cold front came in and dropped the temp to 67 by the 21st and the lake turned over.
The surface temp is 70 right now on the chart and next Tuesday night it is dropping to the 30’s. Highs after that are low 60’s with lows in the 30’s.
