Fiddler Crabs

Anyone know of a place to get fiddlers near Edisto?

Take no prisoners! … catch and release

That’s what I thought. Probably cheaper anyway. I’m planning on taking my kayak into the marsh and going up and either setting a trap for them or cast netting some if there are a bunch on the ground.

You cant buy them along the way? Charleston Marine usually has them when others dont. Haddrells is about 30 miles from the road to edisto if I remember correctly

He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.

1 hour from haddrells to Edisto. the eaisest way to get fiddlers down here is to dig a trap like youre talking about. Back when I was a kid my grandfather had one of the last houses on the creek and i use to burry a bucket in the sand along the marsh line between the last two docks on big bay.

Yeah I don’t go anywhere near charleston on the way to the beach so I’d rather just catch them. Cheaper all around.

I heard that Flowers Seafood, near Steamboat Landing, sold crabs for bait. Does anyone know if this is correct and if so what kind of crabs they sell?

Flowers has plenty of blue crabs. They’ll even give you some of their dead/near dead ones if you want them.

Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
