It’s probably not the first time and won’t be the last but a guy lost his boat and trailer on the big bridge where it transitions. I felt bad for him. I kringe every time I have to pull my boat accross it. Be careful and slow down coming accross the big bridge and make sure everything is tight
That is correct. Headed North off the island. When I came across it, this is what I saw (in order)… Truck with driver…empty trailer rammed against the guard rail, neck under the rail…boat in grass between road and guardrail. Looked like an 18 CC. Always use your safety chains from trailer to truck, a safety chain from bow eye to trailer, and two good straps on back of boat to trailer. That is the exact situation they are intended for.
Yea, that transition seems to get worse year after year.
I always slow down to around 50 or so when I’m pulling the boat or camper.
Try hitting that thing with a big 5th wheel RV, it’ll make your backside pucker up!
You guy’s talking about the3 Dawhoo Bridge? Is the hump part of the bridge or is it actually part of the roadway after coming off the bridge? The reason for asking is I have a friend that does bridge repair for the DOT and will mention it to him so he can look into it.
I was down for the beginning of shrimping season this past weekend and saw a crew doing some work on the big hump coming off the bridge. Looked like they were cleaning debris off the transition so hopefully work will be coming soon.
