finger mullet, mud minnows

Can anyone give me a location for bait on Edisto? The last 2 years I’ve been to Edisto, the Marina was either out of live bait or all they had was dead. Edisto Watersports had fiddlers but nothing else. I don’t mind catching them myself either but I have never had any luck catching bait around Big Bay Creek. Suggestions?

Lots of menhaden everywhere you look. You can cast net plenty. You can catch Mud minnows in any ditch that has some water at low tide. Shrimp are starting to get bigger too. Flounder I caught last week had menhaden in its belly. A minnow trap and cast net are all you need.

Put a minnow trap in that lagoon/pond just off of Jungle Rd. There are some culverts there with lots of mud minnows.

Look for bait flicking in the mouth of the creeks and up in the creeks at high tide. You can’t miss them. Bait is very prolific.

Seems like menhaden are everywhere unless I need them, then they are nowhere. If you dont see any along the beach you can try up the south edisto on the left bank before the cut, or through the cut down the Ashepoo toward St. Helena on the right bank. Good luck.
