Had a good trip to the island this week! Lots of shrimp, mullet and menhaden in the creeks a couple of throws filled my buckets. Caught loads of spottails and trout and a few flounder, filled the traps with crabs. Ive fished these creek for 65 years and this is the first time I have ever caught a 14" cobia in Store creek on a shrimp fished on the bottom on an incomming, also saw a couple of triple tails, but couldn’t get the to bite. Had Flipper grab a spottail I released right beside the boat, almost out of my hand.
Nice report. Over the years, I’ve landed several small juvenile Cobia in four different interior creeks of Edisto Island. Usually in October fishing for red drum on the bottom with fresh shrimp. All have been around 12" fish. Good to see these fish. Hopefully they are thriving in our estuaries.
