First Timer?

Coming down this Sat for a week on EI. Was thinking of renting a slip at the marina instead of putting in and taking out each day. Since I know very little about the area wanted to know if it’s safe to leave my boat there?
Been keeping up the reports here on the site and looks like the bite’s starting to get good. Couple of questions, anywhere on the Island to get live shrimp right now? I’m pretty good with a cast net, so I can go that route if needed. Someone said deeper holes in creeks on low tide was best for netting. Anybody fishing around EI recently? Going to take my son(7 yrs old) to the pond but he loves fishing out of the boat so I was looking at the charts and there’s lots of good looking places. Actually, too many. Was hoping to narrow it down a bit. Reds, trout, cobia(water probably still too cold), etc. Fishing out of a 23 foot Carolina Skiff, so can get in the shallow water.
Any help would be appreciated!

You will be fine to leave your boat at the marina. I would call them to make sure they have a slip open. The marina usually has mud minnows and but I am not sure about shrimp. The wind and the extreme tides have made the water a bit muddy. The red bite should be your best bet for now with some opportunity for trout if the water clears up. If you are familar with the area and want to get on some fish I would charter with Bob Sanders a @ fishingwithbob.com. He is local guide and a really nice guy. Good luck!

He must Increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

there is nothing in edisto, no fish. No need for you to go there.

23 Seacraft
150 Yamy x2

No live shrimp to buy on Edisto, unfortunately.

Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
