I am heading down the week of the 21st and am looking for any advice. I have paper charts and chips for GPS, so I can find my way, but I don’t know where to go. I am hoping to stay nearshore and will be happy catching anything. I usually bottom fish the reefs or other holes with live or cut bait when I am in Chas or IOP. I also need help with a tackle shop, launching advice and a good beer joint. Thanks in advance, without you guys all I could do is go look at some monkeys.
Watch out nearshore, there are some big ol’ tiger sharks plying the waters out there [:0][:0] See results of recent shark tourney…

Launch at Edisto Marina. Steve (manager) will help you with fishing spots, and the “young guns” Madison and Brad will hip you to the night life. I’ll be around and will be glad to help you any way I can. Bob Sanders www.fishingwithbob.com
What are you looking for? You can catch whiting just off the beach w/ dead shrimp. Or you could go to the Edisto 40 and catch undersized sea bass with a chance at some spanish. If you haven’t had any experience in the creeks around Edisto, you may want to talk with a few locals as there is plenty of shallow water that may have you sitting there until the tide comes back in. Dockside is a pretty good bar. located across from the entrance to Wyndham.
Dockside is a good watering hole, just don’t expect the land trout to look like Loose Change on a Friday night.
I have always had the best luck with sharks or BSB. I usually don’t gear up for bigger sharks. I use TLD 25’s with 40# mamoi mono, 100# mono leaders tied into carolina rigs or double hook rigs for live or cut bait. I use 5/0 live bait hooks and whatever bait I can catch in the cast net or with a Sabiki Bait Rig while anchored (menheden and mullet). I suppose if I was looking to target sharks I need to use some sort of wire leader and larger pieces of cut bait. Bonnett Heads in the 4 foot range are the bigest I’ve had success boating.
Spadefish on the reefs should be easy to catch with jellyballs.
Political Correctness: A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!

How do you go about using a jellyball as bait. Never seen it done. Do you cut it into chunks to put on the hook or what? Just curious.
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…

basically, i like to take outer “wing” with the darker colored rim, and cut a 2" strip about 1/2" wide and just put it on a hook.
