Launched the boat around noon and headed to a deep hole to try to catch shrimp for bait. Caught about 5 doz large shrimp. First stop was a spot I haven’t tried since October and only managed one 25" tagged spottail. The tag was a K tag which is supposed to be used on 27" and larger fish. Moved to trout spot and caught around 15, three or four were decent size with the biggest at 20". Most were caught on live shrimp under a rattle cork and a few trout were caught with mullet colored silver flake grub. The trout were at 2-4’depth.
Nice Report there Oristorob Fished Saturday myself and had a good day I am curious about the deep hole for bait shrimp would you share or suggest any good spots and are you useing a taped net? I am thinking the mouth of Big Bay. any way how deep does the hole have to be this time of the year?
Yes I am using a 8’ taped net. I usually don’t bother with water over 30’cause thats the length of my rope and it’s to much work any deeper. I don’t believe the depth is that important, sometimes you will find them in a channel 8-10’, look for abrupt changes. I’m sure they are in places like the mouth of big bay but thats a large area to pin-point their location. Pick some areas off a chart and cast a taped net at low tide and you can find them. Remember no more than 12 dozen starting December 16.

Just got the information back on the tagged spot-tail. He was tagged on 12/2 the day before I caught him.
