Planning a trip to Edisto in the fall and have been looking at maps of the area online. I’m curious about Frampton Inlet. Is this a good place to fish in early November, and what types of fish would be there that time of year? How accessible (if at all) is the inlet/creek, and would the fishing be better right at the mouth of the inlet or further back up in the inlet? We may have a small john boat to use, but may just be on foot. Any info about Frampton Inlet would be greatly appreciated?
FYI The guy running the boat landing at the creek will take your 20 dollars each to launch your paddleboat for 2 hours and I’ll quote him here “We dont allow fishing in the creek”. Good luck to you and while you are out there watch out for the yuppies on the paddleboards and kayaks.

If you want to fish, you will need to pick a calm day and ride front beach. That inlet is tricky but can be entered at a mid tide with no problem as long as the winds and waves allow. Fishing in November will be good at the mouth and up in the creek. JUST BE CAREFUL, and if you are told you can’t fish there, just ignore him or tell him to call SCDNR.
Good fishing there! Sketchy getting in from the ocean side but can be well worth it.

There are new owners there. I have heard about this “no fishing” rule they have. They are hopefully better than the last guy that ran that landing. He threatened to pull a gun on me because I was fishing in the channel near the mouth of the inlet and he had to slow down his charter boat down every time he came by. Think his name was Ronnie. Never understood why people thought they owned that inlet.
Definitely best to come from the ocean. It’s not too hard. If you look at google maps, you can get a good picture of the way the inlet channel feeds out. Once you have seen the overhead view, it makes perfect sense once you get there. You kind of just catch a wave and surf your boat in. Just make sure you get there at least two hours before low tide and plan on staying until at least 1/2 tide coming in. Only taken a wave over the bow once leaving and that was because a storm blew in and made the conditions terrible. I wouldn’t try it in anything bigger than a 19’ boat.
Thank y’all for the information…much appreciated!
What would typically be the best bet in the inlet that time of year (first 1/2 of November)…specks? reds? flounder? all of the above?
Are the bait fish and shrimp usually still around then?
Thanks again!
Who told you this? I’m with Optiker. This is comical!

You can catch flounder and trout in the creek behind the inlet, redfish in the surf.
never launched from the creek. i have come from the ocean a few times… not too bad, just pay attention to what you are doing. the best way is taking a golf cart from jeremy cay, but the island got cut in half this year by storms… so that’s out now, which really sucks, b/c the redfishing is excellent in the surf at the inlet. you can also go by foot via botany bay. not sure how long of walk it is though.
Its a loooong walk from botany bay.

RADDADDY ,
To answer your question it was a younger fellow who said he was RED’s grandson. He is now running wilkinsons landing on frampton inlet. Was gonna charge me,my wife, and my kid 20 dollars each to launch my canoe at his landing.I was semi ok with that for a whole day but he said I could only stay for a few hours and that he did not allow any fishing. I really hope he goes broke and it gets to be so many pinfish in the creek they eat everything living and dead. Na just joking but it does make me feel poor.
Catfish
I have never been up in there but now I want to go in hopes of a confrontation with this “no fishing allowed” guy.
Maybe I will beach my boat there on the back side of the inlet and hang out for a while listening to the radio and clean my fish.
Might even throw some crab pots out.

^I recommend it, make sure you wade out and fish right in the channel where they have to slow down to bring the tour-ons to the beach to look at the shells that they won’t allow them to bring home.
Should have called the PO-PO! Nobody owns the inlet or the creek.

The ultimate “my spot” fool!
Oh yeah, that guy that did that to me is gone now. Don’t think the new guy is any better
Just got back yesterday and wanted to provide a report. The fishing was hit and miss…at times we did really well, other times it was really slow. But overall a good trip. We caught several redfish between 15" and 30" inches, lots of nice (above average sized) whiting, a few specks, and one bluefish. All were caught bottom fishing with bait (finger mullet/cut bait, shrimp, fish bites)except for the specks which were caught on Gulp shrimp under a popping cork. Had plenty of keeper/eating sized fish to do a nice fish fry our last night there. And we also caught an assortment of other fish…croakers, spot, puffers, a couple of eels and a couple of skates…and several small fish that we weren’t sure what they were, but we are guessing some sort of sea bass (these were caught off the dock in the inlet dropping straight down, not in the surf)? Frampton Inlet/Creek has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Had a great time and hated to leave. Only complaint is the bugs were terrible, and at times there was no wind/breeze at all which made the bugs even worse. Thank you for all the advice given on this forum. We never did run into the a-hole at the boat ramp. We had a small jon boat and a kayak which we could easily carry to the water so did not need to use the boat ramp.
