Fishing Breach Inlet 7/19

Hey ya’ll. I live in Old Village and visit Pitt Street bridge a lot and don’t get out to Breach Inlet all that much even though it’s so close. I’m going tomorrow to fish for shark with my friend and I had a few questions.

I like to be active when I’m fishing so I’m going to be bringing my 6’6 G Loomis Medium action spinning reel with 10 pound test line. Is there any kind of lure or bait I can put on the G Loomis so that I can cast while I wait for a bite on the other pole? I was thinking maybe a big topwater lure or big golden spoon might catch something.

I’m using an 8 foot Abu Garcia with 20 pound test line and a 3 oz pyramid sinker with cut mullet for the shark.

Any ideas?

Anyone have any advice on what kind of lure I should use with my G Loomis? Big gold spoon, topwater lure, spinning lure, DOA? Is there any certain fish I can target with my spinning rod in the surf?

Thanks.

Not sure about artificial but I usually set out 2 large rods and fish amother with some shrimp for anything around the rocks on either end of breach. Usually catch Spadefish, Black Drum (good size) BSB and anything else u can think of. I do it cause I have trouble just sitting around so it keeps me busy while big bait soaks.

IMO, I would re-spool that Reel with some heavier test maybe even braid to a wire leader if you are going for some shark, heard of some big ones swimming through that area

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

With the small G Loomis I wouldn’t be going after shark, more like smaller fish like trout and such.
