Fishing Edisto sound July 29th - Aug3rd

Rented a beach house for a family vacation on Edisto sound last week and did some surf fishing from the beach. Lots of finger mullet around for bait. I used live and cut mullet and only caught small blacktip sharks, a stingray, several small bluefish, and lots of small whiting. I didn’t get to fish for large sharks at night because we weren’t allowed to have lights on the beach from May 1st through October 31st because of the Loggerhead sea turtles. Had lots of fun.

Sounds like a fun trip. Your post got me curious though. I was thinking about the whole no lights on the beach thing, and was kinda bummed out cuz I was planning on a little night fishing this weekend. So, I decided to look up the actual laws and town ordinances concerning the turtles. If I read it right, you can have a flashlight as long as it’s less than 2D battery powered and you don’t shine it on any turtles (duh). It was a little fuzzy though so this is just my interpretation. Hope that might help you out in the future.

Before you criticize someone you should try walking a mile in their shoes. Then when you criticize them you’ll be a mile away and you’ll have their shoes.

What about a gas lantern?
