Fishing for Miracles

For me there are few things that hurt my heart more than seeing children suffer from illness. As a parent of two children I’ve made a few trips to the hospital with my children, one trip in particular was with my son when he was 6 weeks old. We stayed at MUSC, and while my son only had a very bad virus that has caused him to be dehydrated, our room overlooked the area where children with cancer spend their days while at the hospital. I can remember looking out of that window and feeling very fortunate that my son was only suffering from a virus and would get better.

This week is the 17th annual Fishing for Miracles Tournament. This tournament is a king mackerel tournament and is held each year to raise money for the MUSC Children’s Hospital. This year’s event is being held at Ripley Light Yacht Club, August 12th-14th and even if you are not fishing it is still a fun time. There will be a dinner and silent auction Thursday evening. There is also a dinner and entertainment Saturday evening as well. You can show up for the weigh-in and enjoy the festivities, while helping a great cause.
