Fishing in Port Royal and Lands End area

I am gonna be staying in Lands End at the end of the month. I will be heading to the reefs if weather permits. I wanted to get some ideas of some good inshore spots. I will have a 8 year old and want to catch some sharks, cobia etc. If we can’t get out I want them to get a good tug on the line. I am familiar with the area, but any advice would be appreciated. I usually run out of Trenchard’s inlet so I am not sure where to get bait etc. on the Port Royal side. I hope to gig in my friends boat as well I gig in station creek and trenchards, but any areas on Port Royal side will be helpful…Thanks!!!

Fish right off of lands end beach in 18’-24’ of water and you will get as many 3’-4’ sharks as you want to reel in.

scmako, I fish out of Lands End regularly and have had a good year in the PR Sound thus far. Sharks are always abundant there (if you want them) and can be caught on virtually anything from squid to cut mullet or menhaden. There is a groin located directly in front of Fort Fremont that generally produces for me. The end of the groin is marked by a few pilings, and the rocks can be seen at low tide when it is exposed. Also, several of the longer LE docks are good for trout and flounder, but must be fished (with live mullet/mudminnows) at higher tides so you don’t run aground. There is a small creek located directly across the sound from Lands end that has been reliable fishing in the past, though I have not tried it yet this year. It is sheltered by an oyster rake on a point that is marked with a white PVC pole. If all else fails, I’d be happy to tell you about a few more spots in the area. Good luck!

I think I know this guy…
You going to change your name now since you got a new boat? See if this little map works:

I shared a map, several points shown and some comments on each of them. Make sure you are on either google earth mode or satellite so you can see the underwater topo to kind of get a feel for where they might be.

Did you get a lowrance unit for your new boat, did the coord file that I sent you work? I think it is only good for lowrance/eagle, etc. If you stop by, I think we can hook up to a garmin and push the numbers to it.

Thanks for all the help!!! Btodag I couldnt get the file to work. I haven’t got the new lowrance yet, but I will definitely need your help when I do. I am still using the 334c. I think Oneal is coming down while I am there come on down and fish with us.

I’ll definitely try to get there. I thought I sent you a version that was supposedly compatible with the 334c. Hmmmm…

I was fixing to ask a similar question for the referenced area. My 2.5 year old and I like to walk on the beach and throw the net to get bait so he can play with and do some fishing. This past weekend we picked up loads of small shrimp and small pompanos for bait. As far as the fishing goes there - sorry at best or for us. We fish every other weekend and usually catch a couple of sharks, whiting, and occational lady fish and that is about it. Again this spot for us and others when we are there very slow.

Has anyone fished near the rocks away from Ft. Freemont? or way left past the last set of piers on what appears to be a grassy area and just before Station Creek? Looks like we could reach that area by walking along the shoreline on low tide. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

i think the area you are talking about is crab creek. it’s difficult to traverse because of the oysters but can be done with adequate footwear. i don’t know if it can be reached via the beach at low tide, but you could always try a kayak. it’s a relatively
shallow area but not a bad fishing hole. good luck!

The flat at station creek always has a boat anchored up fishing. I think it holds redfish, etc. I think that walk may get a bit pluffy in places.
