Fishing Next Week

Well the week long vacation is finally here :sunglasses:. We will be in Edisto fishing all of next week as often as we can. Any last tip or tidbits anyone wants to offer up is greatly appreciated. Bob I will give you a call probably today or tomorrow. We are also going offshore with TopGun out of Beaufort on Wednesday weather permitting. Hope to ee some of you guys on the water and good luck.

Ronnied, Not sure what kind of fish you are targeting or what size boat. This time of year in the S. Edisto the bonnetheads are thick and can’t resist a quarter blue crab. You can easily get a bonnet in the 10lb+ range on light tackle which is always fun. We are kinda in the dog days now but another thing to try (boat size permitting) would be to try the offshore reefs. I’ll be down this weekend myself!

We’ll be targeting the inshore stuff and will be focusing on the good stuff, reds, flounder trout. We’ll be in a 17’ Sea Fox so the offshore reefs are probably out of the question. We’re looking for grocery fish as we’ll do many fish frys while we’re there.

SC Sportsman had a write up several months back on the North Edisto. [online} I have fished out of Steamboat many times with only a few good results. Small creek across from Rockville, only accessible at mid-tide gives out small Spot-tail but never had many keepers. My best luck on Edisto has been at Old Bay creek{pay landing}, right or left. Docks and oysters either way. Nuttin there scoot over to Otter Island and try Fish Creek! Remember though, it is the DOG days of summer. Fishing is tough! Hope I could help. Go catching!
