Recreational red snapper fishing (and spearfishing) will VERY likely be banned starting this summer. http://www.safmc.net/News/NewsReleases/NewsReleaseMarch92009/tabid/606/Default.aspx

Please stop by one of these businesses and sign one of the petitions ASAP. The importance of this has been discussed and argued at length by a few of us who have tried to keep up with everything that NMFS and SAFMC has been doing to us and for us lately. Please review those discussions or www.safmc.net to get up to speed, thereby reserving this thread for people to be simply notified about the petition.

Thanks, from those of us who like to fish for these fish and feel that the government has been used by fishing rights’ opposition groups to twist assumptions and science about a fish they know relatively little about and take away our rights to fish for these fish and very possibly all others that live in the same habitat, both inshore and offshore.
