So if I’m gonna fish for flounder or trout using mud minnows, how should I fish them? Use a float or bottom rig? Just a little help on which floats and which rigs I should use. I have noticed folks using the sliding bobbers but not real familiar. Also how deep should I fish. I’m going to mt pleasant pier in the morning. Any advice?
As a kid we used to fish NEAR Tilghman pier in North Myrtle Beach (Hugo destroyed the pier in '89). After the pier closed at night, we would fish under it for Flounder, in and around the pylons with minnows. Hooked up with some door mats. Single or double drop rig (with beads always for me) and a long shank hook. Maybe try this at some of the piers in the low country. Or fish near some rocks or grass after dark. Waterfront park pier has some nice grass edges within casting range. Be sure you’re using stout gear, or you will get wrapped. A little trick, after your rig sits for a few minutes, slowly start dragging it back, sometimes you can bump one on the head. As for trout?.. I would use live finger Mullet instead of Mudders.
Thanks for the tips. you’re always very helpful. I saw a guy using the slip bobber with live shrimp and he was slaying the trout at crosbys in folly I have never used the slip style bobbers but they sure were working for him he filled a cooler and another guy came and got it and brought another cooler that was empty. I didn’t figure that was very legal but it happened. He sure was good at catching them because nobody else even brought in a single fish and he landed 30 at least in about 1 1/2 hours

30…well if they had 6 people with them, and all were licensed, with 6 rods near buy they could keep 60. As long as the fish were 14" long. But two guys, 30 fish…NOT legal. Some folks are just outright crooks and thieves.
