I know that reds and trout are alittle more saught after than flounder, but does anybody target them in this area? When I used to live in Wilmington N.C. Thats what alot of us went after and I kinda miss that action drifting inlet mouths and creek mouths on outgoing tides with mud minnows and grubs.Plus they make great table fair. Just a little curious, I never see any post on flounder.
Highline,
People fish for flounder - they also gig them.
Mud minnows are the choice bait in this area.

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Anytime I fish I’m going for all three. Any that bite makes my day. I usually have live bait on a popping cork on one rod and a jig tipped with a minner on the other. I fish structure. If it’s real slow I might soak a mudder on a carolina rig under a dock. I much favor the flatties and trouts for the table.

Like jford, I target all three and/or whatever else is biting (whiting, sheepshead, etc.) Funny thing is, if I’m “targeting” flounder by drifting and trolling, I don’t catch any flounder. I catch more flounder by fishing my bass and trout spots. Seems like the farther north up the coast you go, the more productive the trolling seems to be.
When I lived in Wilmington it seemed to be that I could catch flounder at will, but never really hooked up much with trout and reds. But now it seems since I’m back home in S.C. everything is just the opp. Regardless of what I catch though its always great to be on the water. The best thing about Edisto is the solitude, views, saltwater goodies, and times with the family.
