Thinking about hitting folly this weekend. Just kinda wanna take it easy and throw out a couple lines. Fish live shrimp and finger mullet and maybe a big horsey mullet on my shark rod. Thinking the old county park end. Anybody been anywhere on folly recently? Doing any good? Yall think the currents gonna be too bad and just go redfishin in the creeks is a better option?

The rip is supposed to be bad this weekend due to the two offshore storms going on. I have had no luck at all in the Folly surf or at the Lighthouse for the last two weeks. Neither finger mullet nor blue crabs were effective. When things calm down and “cool off” next week I may try the county park end…
Only way you’d be able to fish the rip currents this weekend would be with sputnik sinkers. Which I’m really not to fond of, considering all the whiting that have been hitting lately. Had a buddy fish IOP last weekend though and catch a Pompano. So I may be looking into that for next weekend after the storms pass. All I caught this past weekend in the surf on folly were whiting, small blue, lady fish, and a ray early in the morning. That’s about the sum of it. If you do fish, good luck!
Only spent about an hour at the beach. 1 stingray and 1 whiting. both caught on frozen finger mullet. Surf had a big school of fish that kept jumping. Got alot of other bites but couldnt get the hook set for some reason. probably go back on sunday morning.
i tried SI station 29ish a couple nights ago and saw the current from the tide pool ripping into the ocean so figured id try there. no problem getting mullet, almost stepped on a stingray in the shallows, and tried freelining another big mullet, but no hits on that or blue crab.
Fished Folly on Friday. Landed a 19" red on frozen shrimp on the outgoing tide (about 1:30, I guess); couple hundred yards from Lighthouse Inlet. Other than a lot of bait stolen, that was it for me. Can’t complain, though.
