wife took a half day and i said why dont we go out to the beach for a whiting rodeo??? she was in and off we went. windy day so we went to the end of the island where the wind would be more at our backs. got there at dead high and the bite was dead for and hour or so. once it started moving out the whiting bite picked up. the wife slammed maybe 8 or so in an hour with a small shark and bluefish mixed in. meanwhile i focused on the rocks fishing some salted mussels i had prepared a couple days back, hoping for a black drum or sheep. kept seeing a sheep in the swash on some rocks and determined to get him. after about 4 mussels stolen i got him. nice little 1.5-2lber. let him go because i have been eating cobia for 5 days and need a break from fish. had a couple more mussels stolen but its so hard to get those sheeps in the surf because of the wave action and using a fish finder rig you kinda just have to get lucky. anyways that the report!
Where were you at when you mean the rocks?
