Folly 7/21

Fished north Folly this morning around 9am. The undercurrent was rough, even consistently pushed the 6oz pyramid in. Skunked on the day. Good luck out there!!!

Fished the evening just past the wash out, lots of small fish about a foot jumping about ten ft off the bank, not mullet. They were feeding, maybe small lady fish, or blues could never catch one though. First cast caught a whiting and put on the shark line with a 100g sputnik and it would not hold usually it holds great. Through the small rod back out with 2 live 3 inch mullets and as soon as it hits the bottom and I put tension on the line I get a good hit and a seagull hits the line, missed a good fish. I check the shark line to reposition it and something bit the tail of that had a weird bite pattern (like gapped buck teeth), I think maybe a large flounder. A few more hits I couldn’t feel and that was all the action in about 2 or so hours of fishing. I had the right gear and live shrimp, mud minnows, mullet, and whiting and fished low to past mid tied, it was just the wind waves and current were no good for surf fishing.

I tried right before the washout a few weeks ago. The current was ridiculous. It washed my bait back onshore every time. I was only using a 4 oz pyramid though, I have got to invest in some sputniks!

lol understandable. I don’t even own any regular pyramid sinkers anymore. all I fish with are sputniks between 4 ounces and 6 ounces. And on the really rough days I ZIP tie the anchor’s down so they can’t break away.

Forget sputniks - message Jerry at SureCatch tackle and tell him you need the weights that we use ( Requiem ) - 4 oz are great for the surf.
