Folly 8/10

Fished falling and 1 hr of rising tide. Caught several small Jack Crevalle and a couple larger than normal whiting on small fresh shrimp pieces. Didn’t get any pics bc of the rain. Another slow but very fun day Folly surf fishing! :sunglasses:

Sounds like you’ve figured it out. Keep the posts coming! I’ve been kinda out of the loop the past few weeks, illness in the family. Hope to hit the beach hard closer to the end of the week. Gonna try for 4 days in a row.

Thanks dparker, I’m slowly getting there. Just ready to land a bull red this September/October!!! The Jack Crevalles were a nice suprise this past Sunday. Thanks again for all the tips you post

What’s with this influx of Jacks, it seems like a lot of folks are getting them

I think they do this near the end of every summer. All were baby ones, about 10"-12" length max. They are a vpurrrdyy fish…

What part of folly were you on?

jacks start spawning in late winter/early spring, so those would be the new recruits… kind of like the 7-8" reds finally getting big enough to eat a finger mullet a couple months ago.

I fished the coast guard end of folly for 1.5hrs before and at slack in the wind 2 days ago, conditions sucked and I was really just killing time. trough wasn’t very deep, less than 2’, caught 2 little blues, 6 small whiting and a 13-14" black drum. hoping to make a directed whiting trip soon.

tomorrow’s early rising tide looks great for the wind, but the weekend’s starting to look blown out for surf fishing.
