Went to the Morris end of Folly last night looking for some sharks. Yakked the baits out around 8:00, didn’t get a single bite on the big rods. Fished the surf while we were waiting, ended up with 6 whiting and a 12" red. Packed it in around midnight.
Was down there about a month ago with the same results.
What were you usung for bait? Ive been using the whiting i catch for bait and ive had results. I fish them alive.
Not in the right spot. There are sharks all over if you know where to look. I don’t kayak my baits out either

I used cut whiting and croaker I caught using shrimp. I think my problem was I got out there at high time and fished until low tide. I had never fish out there before and didn’t know there was a HUGE drop off at low tide. I think if I would have fish the low tide in deeper water I would have done better. Where I fished- I walked out to the end of the long path. When I got to the end I took a left and set up where there is a large concrete square.
That concrete square is the old CG base. There is better sandbsts in the surf rather than the inlet

next time walk the beach instead of the path.it’s alot easier walking.
The plan was to use dead mackerel until we had some live bait. By the time we got the first whiting it was a little too rough to launch the kayak so we just enjoyed playing with the little guys.
So surf not the inlet?
Yeah, that’s what u would say. The shark areas in the inlet you won’t be able to get to them. I cas to the spots in the surf
