folly 8/6

finally ended my suck streak in the surf this morning. tossed rod #1 out with half a crab on and it was hit before i could get the second out, however i reel my line in to find my hook was broken (insert accidentaly bought made in china hooks, hook was rusty, or other fishing excuse here). tide started coming in a bit and i got a second hit, however that one was just a miss. 3rd time is the charm and finally landed a 43" bonnethead on half a crab. i guess the idea of leaving the top shell on and splitting it with a heavy knife works after all and pest fish didnt pick out the meat nearly as much…however something did manage to chew through the shell of one and left bite marks…sheepshead maybe? either way grill is happy tonight!

I guess you found that sandbar

Where were you? I want to take my son out to target shark. I don’t know Folly very well, so I’ll need an address or cross streets to find what you’re talking about.

I wanna try Bonnethead sometime

ive found its a pretty versatile fish to cook with. ive made it grilled, broiled, baked, and fried by itself and it tacos and havent found a way i dont like or gotten complaints from anyone else ive served it to (12+ people) before either.

I love fried shark bites. Cut meat into 1" cubes, soak in milk for 30 minutes, toss in a baggie with some spicy House-Autry and 3 minutes in 350 oil

GOOD EATS

So where is the best place to go on Folly for shark?

So, can anyone answer me as to where exactly I should go on Folly for sharks from the beach?

Your gonna have a hard time getting someones fishing spot. Go at low tide with your son and your gear, look for where the waves break stop then break again. Fish the incoming tide here and hold on tight.
