Hello All!
My wife has family in Charleston so we coming down for the weekend. I get to fish tomorrow and Saturday.I will probably fish Folly Beach but I see that they have a tournament on Saturday. Will this make the pier crazy crowded? I mainly fish Virginia Beach here at home and I do not mind a little crowded. Here at home the surf is the hot place to be right now, you mainly want to be in front of the sandbar in the surf, in a cut if you can find it. Is this what i should be looking for at folly as well? Meaning in front of the sandbar? I am catch and release only but I would love to catch a decent black drum. For whatever reason i have yet to catch one over 10’’.
Also if I decide to go out to the end of the pier are their any rules? Where i fish in NC from time to time there are a lot of rules on the end. If you do not follow them it can get pretty nasty for you in a hurry…It has never been nasty for me but i have seen others not have a good time because of it, so i wanted to ask before hand.
Thanks for any help!!
Tight Lines
End of pier is usually in season for King fishermen. Unless you paid for spot you are supposed to stay behind line. Last time I was there beach was flat- no bar that I saw. Often fish are just behind the breakers and species depending, right in the surf in knee/waist deep water. Fishing at base of piles is also a good place.

Tight Lines!
That line does not exist anymore. Fish cut shrimp or live shrimp behind breakers like jford said and should have a decent time. Also, remember Saturday is a monthly tournament at the pier so expect extremely large crowd.
Pier rules are no shark fishing no baits over 8 inches and no hooks over 4/0. Fish the white water for drum, the swells for whiting and the end for rays and sharks. You can catch sheep’s by the pier also.
I actually got right behind the breakers. As the tide dropped I was in the breakers. I caught a couple a shark then I got a 29" red and a 26" red and like I said I am catch and release so they went back to the Ocean. There are a lot of nice folks on the Pier, very helpful and they netted for me. So whoever that was, if you read this, thanks agian!

Slot limit is 15 to 23 inches on Redfish. Anything smaller or larger has to be released, just in case you don’t know that.
