Fished our spot on Friday (sorry im a bit late posting) Ended up getting 5 solid runs on large cut Amberjack but the hook pulled! Upon inspecting the bait the Shark was simply missing the hook… Downsized a bit on the size of bait and got hooked up within 4 mins. Ended up with a 6.5 Ft. Male Lemon Shark… Got our Fork Length and Total Length and additional information for the DNR study and let her go. Swam away strong… Caught on a Penn Spinfisher 8500 with cut Amberjack. Tight Lines everyone! Video will be on the channel soon!

Good for you Daniel, thanks for your post.
Nice, what are you guys doing for DNR? I’d love to see some published data.
Thanks guys! During the 2016 Season we are simply filling out catch data on all our sharks in DNR issued logbooks. Next year during the 2017 Season DNR Biologists will be coming along with us during are shark trips to tag and take blood samples on sharks. I just met with the lead biologist on the study yesterday and he said they will be doing Acoustic Tags… which will be cool!
Casted bait, or yaked out?
No matter how many variables I have control over, I never expect a bite. I only hope.
She was caught on a casted bait.
