Folly beach/sullivans island

Been a while since i have reported anything. Havnt really been catching much. Fished sullivans a handfull of times and only caught sharks. Fished folly far north tuesday for 5 hours no bites. Fished for 6 hours today caught a shark and stingray in the last 30 mins. Im throwing one shark rod and 3 rods trying to target redfish. I have hit a slow streak and its takin its toll on my moral for getting a bull red this year.

Ohh and i retract my previous statement when i said you couldnt catch bluefish on fishbites. Caught my first one the other day.

Steveo what are you targeting the reds with rig wise and bait?

Targeting reds with 5/0 circle and about an inch chunk of whiting/mullet. Using cable and big 12/0 - 16/0 circles and whole whiting for sharks

Yea a 5/0 circle and chunk of whiting or mullet should do it. Alway’s use fresh bait over frozen it stays on the hook better and is fresh. Those blues you are catching also make great red bait. If you have fished that many times, this time of the year and they are not hitting you need to try a different spot. Location is very important. The looks of the picture the water seems somewhat flat. I tend to like to see more action from the ocean when targeting them. Waves, white water and currents flowing. Can you not find ant troughs and sand bars about, they tend to improve chances allot. If you haven’t looked at the Rich Trox videos take a look at them reading the beach, sand bars troughs etc. People tend to think it’s easy catching reds from the surf. I don’t think it is unless you are in a good spot. Otherwise this board would be flooded with them. Keep your head high, you have caught allot of fish this year. Nothing to be discouraged about.
